free power hour drinking game software?
October 11th, 2008Rumor has it that Power Hour LLC has released their famous Power Hour Drinking Game software for free!
It’s TRUE, DOWNLOAD POWER HOUR.
The history of the Power Hour Software goes back 6 years already. Developed in 2001 & 2002, a University of Wisconin La Crosse student was employed by Stroda Web Design to complete more technical projects. Stroda was a local web design company owned by two brothers (Steve Roose and Dan Roose = STeve ROose DAn) who were also UW-La Crosse students. Bradley, while learning some new software for Stroda, decided to bring “Power Hour” an age old drinking game, into the 21st Century. It was time to throw out the stop watches and use the new software which kept track of the time, how many shots were taken, told you when to drink, and entertained you with famous beer quotes along the way.
A few UW-L friends heard about the Power Hour software and started playing it in the dorms. Soon friends from other colleges in the US were emailing Bradley, asking him for the Power Hour program as well. Bradley then hosted the application at www.bradleydesigns.com/powerhouvx/. Soon hundreds and even thousands were downloading the game. Bradley was leaving college to program software for the military and sold the game to Steve Roose. Steve, who knew nothing about the game at the time, other than it had been developed while under employment for Stroda to complete a design project, was encouraged by Bradley to create a custom website for the game.
So, Steve Roose did just that! He got online and registered www.PowerHourVX.com and launched the game. The Power Hour Timer was now at the fingertips of beer drinkers world-wide. For those of you wondering what VX stands for… You’re wrong… lol. It’s not Version 10, or roman numerals, etc. In fact its much more lame. At the time Bradley developed the software, the term power hour was also used by the Crystal Cathedral church and although Power Hour is known to be a religious experience, he wanted it to stand out. He added “VX” for “Video Extreme”. Like I said, LAME. But the name took and has stayed with the Power Hour application this entire time.
When Steve Roose launched the game in 2002 on Power Hour VX, the power hour pc version was still free to download. With over a million hits monthly to www.powerhourvx.com the company took off. College students, military, fraternities and sororities were huge fans of the game. Within the first week of the website being launched, they got a call from TechTV in San Francisco, CA and were invited to play the game on the popular show “UNSCREWED” with Martin Sargent and Laura Swisher.
Steve appeared on the TV show and completed a Power Hour during the show. Website traffic soared and for the following years the software was developed further and was offered for sale rather than for free. Meanwhile Power Hour LLC, has been developing additional versions of Power Hour the entire time. They were working on a Cell Version which simply couldn’t get completed by the time the cell phones were outdated and replaced with newer ones. In 2005 they developed the famous Power Hour DVD, which is focused on getting house parties, bachelor/ette parties from boring to WILD! It includes the basic Power Hour and Century Club components and added “The Beer Man” who challenges people at the party with sexy and provocative dares each minute of the game. The Power Hour DVD was just picked up by Spencer Gifts stores in August of 2008 and will be available nationwide to consumers at over 700 stores starting in October of 2008.
To make a long story short, Power Hour LLC has created a Power Hour Directory (lists all known “Power Hour” related sites on the internet) and a Power Hour Network of about 50 Power Hour LLC websites. The Power Hour Network has everything from Power Hour Mixes (listen to free power hour mixes online), to Power Hour Burner (you are able to burn your own Power Hour CD’s), Power Hour Forum (meet with other Power Hour fans and develop/debug software as well as contribute new power hour ideas), Power Hour Pictures (view pictures from power hour events and parties) and more. They just launched Power Hour Ads, so advertisers that want to reach college students, military, beer drinkers, and partiers can advertise at affordable rates across the entire network.
What does all this mean? With an explosive website network, new power hour products being brought to market and the ability to advertising, Power Hour LLC has decided that Power Hour fans deserve a quality Power Hour Software for FREE.
So download power hour, get some cold beer and tell your friends to get ready for the weekend.
If you like the PC Version, you’ll LOVE the Power Hour DVD.
